the kind you get in markets and off the back of lorrys. theres a woman at work who gets them and passes them around us all. its stuff thats only just come out etc.
the quality is usually really good. she had revenge of the sith today. anyway, where do they come from if theyre not just from some guy with a camera in a cinema?

If they are not from a guy with a camera in the cinema they are from someone working in the cinema.

I've never bought any pirates. Couldn't be bothered. The quality is never the same. And the people who make money from them are usually rough as fuck.

...the funniest is when your watching one and someone walks across the screen as the did when it was being recorded in the cinema, it's ridiculous actually... :D

how does star wars get on the internet before its been released?

ciara was meant to bring me back a load from bangkok but she got in a fight with the guy selling them.

  • some are straight up dvd copies (the dvd is out in another region & gets copied)
  • some are hand held camcorder copies, which are universally shit video & audio quality
  • some are done with a camcorder on a tripod in the projection room (telesync? telecine?) and can have quite decent sound as it's not recorded from the cinema speakers
  • some are 'Screeners' - studio screening copies sent for review, or to award show judges, usually identifiable by the "FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION" that pops up every now and then, or from a timecode in a corner.
  • some are 'Work Prints' - a work in progress version, although the Revenge Of The Sith one doing the rounds already is meant to be the complete film I think.

3 things: 1: why is a thread about baby equipment acceptable?
2: since when was music not arts and culture?
3: what does general mean?

I used to work with a bloke that was always trying to sell me pirate dvds and cds. He owed hundreds of grand due to gambling debts. And his parents won an evening herald competition due to the amount of fairy lights on their house at christmas.

Didn't like the chap one bit.

general is for chats about music and anything non lifestyle, football, games, politics, eirecore, accommodation, arts and culture. so nerrr. Film related stuff goes on the arts and culture board. Take it up with pete if you don't like the forum names.

I. I dunno! there's no specific board for baby related stuff I suppose.

hate pirate dvds/vhs

only ones I ever bought were stuff that was banned
usually from a PO box in somewhere like Norwich or Stoke, late 80's, early 90's.
Quality - varied.

- Cannibal Ferox/Holocaust, Last House On The Left, I Spit On Your Grave, New York Ripper, Zombie Flesh Eaters, [insert banned film on the DPP list from 1984], etc etc etc

pre-cert vhs are good to get, great boxes, but getting pricey nowadays

I know a forum where you can get tonnes of movies for about e1.50 - got pirates of the carribbean, four seasons of oz and more stuff. You just get the copied dvd with the stuff on but the quality is a+ and it's cheap as all hell. There's always tonnes of pre-release stuff on there aswell. It's tricky to get on to the forum as a new member now though, if anyone's interested pm me.
