I'm afraid I'm not much help @Jill Hives , most of the successful pop in the past year or two has been very EDM-influenced stuff and not my bag at all so I haven't been paying much attention.

these two are great though:

I think I might give this a listen, which will work for you as well:
The Top 45 Singles Of 2013 - Popjustice

Yeah that one was alright. I've been listening all morning and have gotten as far as the top 10. I think my favourites so far have been the Charli XCX and Little Mix songs. TBH I haven't been that impressed by most of the stuff. This must be what it feels like to be old.

Irish Radio Stations reported over 2.7 million airplays to PPI in 2013.
Top of the pile was PASSENGER (AKA Michael David Rosenberg), with the intimate track LET HER GO, getting the most airplay.
In second place was one of the global hits of 2013 – GET LUCKY by DAFT PUNK featuring PHARRELL WILLIAMS. PHARRELL WILLIAMS also featured on another top track; BLURRED LINES with ROBIN THICKE – coming in #5. In third was British rock band BASTILLE with POMPEII, taken from their debut studio album BAD BLOOD. Fourth place went to HO HEY by LUMINEERS. Ireland’s KODALINE had quite a year, with 3 of their tracks appearing in the top 50; #6 HIGH HOPES, #23 LOVE LIKE THIS and #28 BRAND NEW DAY. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE - MIRRORS, PINK featuring NATE REUSS - JUST GIVE ME A REASON, ONE REPUBLIC - COUNTING STARS and AVICII - WAKE ME UP, make up the other top ten played tracks on Irish Radio.

TREASURE, LOCKED OUT OF HEAVEN and WHEN I WAS YOUR MAN by BRUNO MARS made #12 #14 and #15 respectively. MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS had a good year with 3 tracks from THE HEIST album making the top 50; #16 CAN’T HOLD US, #45 THRIFT SHOP and #47 SAME LOVE. OLLY MURS is another artist to make the list 3 times; #33 DEAR DARLING, #41 ARMY OF TWO and #49 TROUBLEMAKER.

THE SCRIPT had another strong year on Irish airwaves with 4 tracks on the list; #37 IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW #40 SIX DEGREES OF SEPERATION #42 HALL OF FAME featuring WILL.I.AM (no. 8 on the 2012 most played list) and #44 MILLIONAIRES.

I got about 4 or 5 albums I'll investigate further from that list. Not bad at all. It seems there are very few male singers doing pop music I like, what's with that?

no connection, but they remind me of each other
