b. 1928 (same year as Chomsky) in Germany - hence the wonderful voice - Ruth's parents sent her to Suisse for safety and she never heard from them again - murdered in the Holocaust.

From memory:
After the war Ruth was at the Sorbonne and was briefly a sniper in Israel and then headed to NYC where she became a doctor.
Dr. Ruth practised quitely and raised her family until beginning of 80's when she was asked to do a ground breaking sex advice phone in show on radio in an early afternoon slot...
I suppose her advice seems simple and a bit conservative now but her openness got the ball rolling...
I knew she was still alive because she was on Anderson Cooper in the 2010's.
Dr.Ruth was tiny - well under 5 ft.

During my recent hospital stay I went out for a walk at one stage - not much in the way of nice walks in that part of Drogheda, so I just walked around the graveyard across the road from the hospital. Most of the headstones had "Died at age 75" "Died aged 84" etc, but a surprising number of them had "Died aged 50-something". Scary
