Poor ould Phil had given it up years ago. Legend anyhow, he'll never be forgotten in Irish music lore. The Radiators AND the Pogues. That's pretty good going.

I was at a funeral yesterday for a friend of mine that drank himself to death at the age of 36.

How much was he drinking? Sorry for your loss but that's an incredibly young age. All my alcoholic uncles and other relatives made it to 50, (but not much further) at least.

He was drinking enough to go into rehab anyway. Lots of vodka supposedly. His organs failed.

My grandfather did it in reverse, didn't start drinking till he was 40 or 50 I think. Became a massive alcoholic for Whiskey. He's 95 now and only doesn't drink because no one hands it to him.
