O EMPEROR

Debut single 'Po' is released Oct 9th 2009 on iTunes.

A majestic name for an imperious band. Hailing from Waterford, O Emperor have orchestrated a multi layered, multi faceted sound that betrays their tender years and that, with one giant leap, puts them at the forefront of our brightest talent.

Undertaking all the production duties themselves, the band have created Po, a debut single that ploughs a supremely confident furrow between classic American harmonic pop and the best of British alternative music since the 80's; think Grizzly Bear or The Beach Boys locked in a cupboard with Radiohead or The Cure and you're not quite there.

Impeccably arranged, immaculately performed behind words that evoke childhood fears and adult frustrations, Po proves the band have a genuine streak of originality and self awareness that manifests itself on this stunning debut release.

"Gentle and delicate songs, guided by intricate urgently-picked guitars, grinding electric lines, expansive piano playing, some electronic tomfoolery, and wonderfully harmonised vocals - there’s a straightforward sincerity to the music of Waterford band O Emperor. Sounding a little like the Beach Boys, The Band, and The Smiths being digested by a cannibalistic Lee Mavers from the La’s, O Emperor haven’t even released an album yet and they’re already better than many decades-old bands I could mention..."

Percolator is an Irish three-piece band from Waterford made up of Ellie on drums and vocals, Ian Chestnutt on Guitars and vocals and Jason Grant on bass. Recently they have been gigging as much as possible at numerous venues in Dublin, Cork, and other Irish cities, with bands such as A Place To Bury Strangers, Ilya K, Immanu El and Katie Kim, and also at the Irish Green Gathering establishing themselves as an exciting upcoming band in the Irish alternative scene. Right now the three are getting ready to start work on a debut album and an EP is due for release in late March/early April. Demos of their work have already been given some radio play and attention from promoters and magazines. Repeated comparisons have been made to My Bloody Valentine, and Sonic Youth. This may be down to the boy/girl vocals, or Ian's preference for Jazzmasters and altenate tunings, but their music is not necesarily just for gazing at your shoes, it has a raw edge which comes across well live, and there are high expectations for their forthcoming EP.
