What albums of her do people recommend? I've always just been rocking a few best ofs. I've heard this is up there but not always a huge fan of live albums:
Nina Simone at Town Hall - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My favourite is Black Gold, it's a live album and it's very much centred around the Civil Rights movement in terms of song choices and stage patter. It's simultaneously got a seriousness and a lightness about it that only Nina could do. It's tremendous.

Wonderful record. She's in her element live, on the piano.

Also Nina Simone In Concert. Cos it has Mississippi Goddamn on it.
