I tested a really light currency converter page using the chrome test you mentioned... It's all gobbledogook to me.

The only thing i can think of is that facebook uses SPDY, but i don't think that would account for what you're experiencing everywhere else...

yeah they're in milliseconds

try it with facebook

14 results for facebook ranging from 762ms - 818ms then one at 4808ms

I wonder might it have something to do with a bad route on UPC's side to an analytics/advertising network script. They would definitely prolong page loading times. And I'm guessing FB don't use any 3rd party scripts.

Also, set your ipv6 to 'Off' in the Network Prefs.

that's the type of thing firebug should help with identifying
