Minor Musical Observations (7 Viewers)

Well......

The hobbitish kid eventually went Oh, CHICAGO HOUSE!! And the guy I was talking to went "Yes, finally!"
He was very generous really, for all his jibes.

I like the history, if not the tunes. I dunno.

I would have to infer you meant that style/era from calling it 808 but never heard of it called that as a genre before. When I was reading your post I thought you were referring specifically to the group 808 State and that the uni guy didn’t know what a drum machine was.

It might indeed be just me calling it 808 music. Again, not my favourite sound, but it must be acknowledged. He was a good DJ, whatever he was doing.

In other minor musical observations, old punks and edgy alternative cool kids really seem to like Careless Whispers by George Micheal. Not even ironically.

If I were to say "Hammond organ music" for example, you'd know what to expect, even though it might be a load of different genres.

it's a pity john lennon never met van morrison's ma.

It's their incredibly shit lyrics that put me off, mostly

She's got a sister
Lord knows how I've missed her
In the palm of her hand is a blister

C'mon lads! Can ye not do a bit better than that?
similarly, i find it hard to listen to some of t-rex's songs.

but this is a bit weird; i couldn't remember if the 'i drive a rolls royce' line was from 'children of the revolution' or not:

a) i don't know why it's correcting a previous erroneous suggestion it did not make
b) it's not from 'metal guru' anyway.
