MIKO MIKA (USA, Kill Rock Stars) / NO AGE (USA, Fat Cat) Irish Tour (1 Viewer)

Janer was funny last night I thought. "play some punk songs".

:) didn't hear him say that.classic!

muffin, there was i presuming it was me you were talking about

think i saw Mr T there too.and ostrichsyndrome was there.quite a few under one small roof.

sorry hermie!!but im not sure i even know exactly what you look like..other than an amalgamation fo about 10 peoples faces from maynooth:)

my other half thought it was really funny/nerdy that i was saying 'i think he's on thumped' etc..

:) yea i get that shit all the time.but i work in IT so i deserve it.

i saw that ceiling fall in and half expected the arm of a dead person to limply drop out too, revealing the type of murder that could only happen in the boom boom room.

i reckon susan the bar woman would be involved.

i love the boom boom room as a venue.

Miko Mika were really good, so were cap pas cap.
No age, not so good i'm afraid.

sound in this venue is consistently bad

Ernesto's holidays from thumped must be up as wasn't there.

.

do you think?

i think if its a punk band thats going to be the sound you get wherever - i thought cap pas cap sound was excellent and no age and mika miko because of what theyre doing the sounds going to be distorted?

i think sound in bbr is really good

Afraid so.

cap pas cap sound was ok, as in you could hear most things more or less.
No Age was spoilt with feedback and no vocals
Miko Mika was an absolute disgrace. (but they were still good)

The only band i've heard sound relatively ok were BATS a few weeks back.

it'd be good for acoustic stuff, but not for the type of gigs they're doing now.

yeah - i put on a gig there about a month ago - rae spoon and lianne hall who are both acoustic and the sound was completely amazing..tis the wooden floorboards..

what venue (smallish with a small pa system) do you think is best for louder bands..?

small venues and loud bands don't really go well together.
I think Crawdaddy is good but way overpriced, Lower Deck is pretty good (depends on what PA is there)
That Polish bar on Capel Street (dunno the name) can be used monday-wednesdays and can tolerate loud bands. The rest of the week they have cover bands playing. (its at Capel st/parnell st junction)

the bleu note?
yeah its cool- really bluesy in there- but wins the prize for the biggest wee smelling venue in dublin.
i didnt realise it had become a polish bar..
it was a gay bar for a while (yello) and then it was the bleu note and they were trying to push it as a blues/jazz venue..
