Anybody have any recommendations?
There's alot of room sound in the original recordings that we don't wanna lose amd we don't want it to be compressed to shit.
Anybody have any good experiences they can tell me about?

Had mastering done by Fergal Davis last summer, we told him maintaining the dynamics was really important to us. When we went to review the masters I thought they were good but a little close to the ceiling. I didn't say anything initially as I was concerned we might have to pay to get them mastered again. I also wanted to listen to the masters at home on my own speakers.

He phoned me before I had a chance to review them again and said I didn't look too pleased when he played the tracks in his studio and offered to master them again. We were all pleased with the second masters he did.

Have to give him credit for getting in touch and redoing them for us. I'm sure lots of guys would have just tried pass off the first draft and leave it at that.

It's also dead easy to send them abroad to get done. John Golden in California... top notch .. does Sonic Youth and all sorts of others. Not expensive at all at all ....

Compress the fuck outta everything. Its the modern way.

I used Steve fanagan for my last album and I'd recommend him to anybody - that was 2007 though, so I'm not sure if he still does mastering as i think he's doing film music etc now.
