I'm moving to London next week,living in Hackney.I hoped ye could help me out with a few places to go for some DIY gigs or basically anything of interest you won't find in a tourist guide!

There's quite a lot going on in London all the time, but things are not necessarily in close proximity to each other. To find out about punk gigs, actions, etc, this is probably the best diy resource and is updated regularly http://www.eroding.org.uk/ (just click on the events diary). As Conor said, there is also some info on the www.londonpunks.co.uk . If you have any specific questions, i'll see if I can offer you some advice.

28 January 2006: Record Fair & Benefit Gig- @ the Grosvenor, 17 Sidney Rd SW9 (off Stockwell Rd between Stockwell & Brixton tubes). London's first Punk Rock Record Fair starts 2pm-6pm with vegan food and bands following from 6pm. Bands: DeathRAce + Flyblown + Coma + Give Up All Hope + Cruelty (Bristol) + Ghurka (Bristol) + Ruin (members of Doom, Disaffect, Debris etc etc). Record fair is FREE, gig is £5. Stalls from a variety of Punk genres. Gig is a benefit for THE ADVISORY SERVICE FOR SQUATTERS.

not sure if its still going but 100% dynamite have a great reggae disco in angel every 2nd friday night, pretty near hackney I think!!!!!!!!!
