LeechrumnightsDublin No. 6 Present:
Fri 17th Nov.
@ the Legal Eagle
12 euro (10 b4 11.00)
Vex'd (live + DJ)
The Person (laptop DJ set)
DJ Leem (Leechrum)
DJ Rian Ryan (Electric City)
Leechrumnightsdublin returns to the city for more cutting edge clubnights. First on the agenda are the prime movers in the dubstep scene with leechrums own homegrown talent The Person in support:
Vex'd (Planet Mu, Subtext records)
Since 2004 when Vex'd emerged from the murky vaporous atmosphere of the evolving grime/dubstep scene they have been justly championed as flag bearers of a genre which has spread like wildfire throughout the electronic community, infiltrating the fan base of the electronica, techno and breaks world with their universally appealing sound.
The duo's sound is a merging of Jamie's juicey Jungle bassline background and Roly's dub and electronica concoctions, but it was exposure to the dark side of garage that compounded their skills and influences into the current Vex'd sound.
Vex'd craft some of the rudest, rubberiest, most mangled, stretched and strung-out bass you'll ever have the pleasure of introducing your neighbours to.
That veteran UK Techno pioneer Surgeon is fanatical about the Vex'd sound says much for this talented duo and reiterates their quality assuring ability to penetrate other genres. This is music that issues a fresh smack to the face, makes you perk up and take notice, replace your cup to its saucer and with mouth slightly ajar; contemplate: Tight drum programming, squeezed basslines and pitch black backgrounds, spooky interludes, anxious echoing giving you a tummy grumble you'll need more than a bowl of Shreddies to remedy.
Vex'd play The Legal Eagle Nov 17th.
