Our oldest was at wittness and we brought the two of them to the Electric Picnic last year. We were staying in a campervan so that was brilliant.

I was great and they sort of enjoyed themselves.... but we both agreed that next year they're staying at home. It's great when you have Access All Areas shit going on and don't care about the line up but far too restrictive when you want to actually see bands. Plus as a parent you get out so seldomly that walking arounf festivals with hungry tired kids can be very frustrating.

kids are not people, they are mini people with less of a clue how to behave properly. well, the ones at the festival were let fuckin crazy loose, burnin stuff. loads of crap.

When was the last time you spoke to a child? They love crazies (mine does anyway) and are a lot harder to freak out than adults

i speak to a kid most days (the ma minds one) and thats cool if they can handle seeing some acid-head lick the side of their campervan of smearing shit on themselves. but some kids could get a bit weirded out and disturbed by it.
just sayin, with responsible adults, yeah kids are fine but when the parents dont give a flyin fuck it goes a bit too far ye know?

If the parents don't give a flying fuck then there's a much bigger problem than you getting annoyed at a festival dude

I really can't see a child getting weirded out by seeing some hippy licking a van. Licking stuff is pretty normal for a kid, isn't it?

I second that.

Last year in Mantua was mental I have to admit. I was asked for a spoon for a three month old to be fed. All we had were cheap plastic ones that had been thrown all over the tent and grass and I felt so bad cos this krusty was out of it and couldnt barely stand never mind look after her kid. She was out of it.

I'm not saying anything about anyone on here at all. Ye are obvious responsible parents to be thinking about the safest way to bring your kids to festivals and I realise that it could a good experience for them at times.

I'm simply saying some parents shouldn't take their kids if all they are planning is to get drugged up and not be able to look after their kids.

I was at a tiny one day festival last year where the neighbourhood kids were all in attendance. They were pretty amusing until I saw a gang of them - not one above 4 foot in height hassling (slagging and pushing) one of the guys who had played. He didn't know how to react to a gang of agressive munchkins. It was a bit weird.

Kids at festivals are fine... as long as their parents behave like responsible adults.
