Man, i like Kanye west - his albums are cool, and any time i hear of him up to anything in public, i think it's pretty right on, like when he was in spin saying how people were using him to sell magazines and he doesn't get paid for it. Right fuckin on.

Publicity generating sales = getting paid.
Kanye West is a dope.

Ah well obviously yeah, I just like the sort of chancer aspect, like Bez finding out he was being paid for his Daily Sport column by the word and turning in an essay a couple of thousand words long, or Steve Jones on the never mind the bollocks DVD showing how to play pistols tunes on the guitar, but then stopping when he realized he could probably make money doing on a separate DVD.

J'know like.

I dunno, he seems fairly sincere in being pissed off at people dying. He also seemed pretty honest and self-aware acknowledging that he went shopping before he donated any money. Just cos he got mad bank don't mean he isn't sympathetic to the people in NewOrleans.

kanye west is from a pretty well off (and educated) upper-middle class background
so you're the racist / classist! na na na na

i think kanye west is deadly. been a fan since back when he was just makin beats for Hov' and i find it hard to believe anyone could think he was trying to raise record sales with his spiel...

hmm, i saw this on the telly the other day, in fairness mike myers didn't 'stand frozen in horror' or 'descend into complete panic'. it was more of a slightly, 'ehh, ok...' expression.

My post was in relation to him complaining that magazines don't pay him when they use him to sell their product. I think what he had to say bout New Orleans was right on and I like his toons, but whenever I see him being interviewed he comes across as an humourless twat.

ah right fair enough, thought you meant the publicity from the new orleans speech. Aye it's daft to complain about magazines not paying you for what amounts to free advertising for him.
