Ireland v Erdogan, Mussollini and Salazar (1 Viewer)

They were talking up that Jack Grealish kid's chances of a call up on Off The Ball this week, so I'm a little surprised he's not in there. If for no other reason so they could introduce him to the squad, give him a run out against Gibralter later in the year and lock him down so e can't go back to England.

He seems pretty committed at the moment so I'm not too worried about that. Also, I read today that he played gaelic football quite extensively up until a couple of years ago. Which, I hope, shows how Irish he feels.

Jesus, are we playing them too? I expect many niggles to be picked up over the weekend and minor surgeries having to be carried out.

Whatever happened to Michael Johnson? He just seemed to diaappear. He was great when he came into the senior team at City.

He got really fat (for a footballer) or just fat for a normal person. He had a few injury problems and seemed to lack the motivation to come back from them properly. There was a good piece in the Guardian a couple of years ago, probably by Daniel Taylor about him.

Edit: He's had a few mental health issues as well apparently, which might have had something to do with his failure to come back.

Just read the article. Poor lad. He really stood out from the other youngsters coming through.

I wouldn't have too much sympathy for him. From what I can gather his mental health issues stem from years on the piss, which began with him out on the town constantly, showing off how much money he had and acting the big man. Also, he was done for drink driving.
At City they talk about someone who became "big-time" and started spending too much time in nightclubs and casinos. At times they could not understand why he was not fit to play when the medical staff could not find an obvious problem.

As an aside, does anyone know which Irish player it was that took a wad of the local money and laughingly set it alight in front of some locals when we played in some ex-communist country in the early/mid-90s?

James McCarthy has pulled out of Ireland's transatlantic tour of destruction. Who will contain Ronaldo? David Meyler, in his sleep, that's who.

PS - breaking news. Is there no end to Stephen Ireland's lunacy?

McCarthy pulling out isn't such a bad thing, he's well enough established at this stage & it'll mean that Meyler, Quinn and Hendrick get more of a proper go. As for S. Ireland, that's that I'd imagine.. the 2008 version was worth getting worked up over but the 2014 Stoke impact sub one hardly is.

Well this is it.

QPR winning the playoff is not so good for Ireland. I would have liked to see Hendrick in the big league next year.
