You should do this with all self build furniture, three months should be plenty long enough too.

billys are pretty much the same as the cheapo argos crap
i have at the moment. i think you can get extra shelves
for them to fit more in..yer right about the depth though.

none of their actual dvd-storage solutions are much use
for the discering dickhead who spends far too much cash
on dvds every month.

OK so here's pictures of ours in case any other saps with stupidly big collections are reading.

You can get 52 standard DVDs per shelf, so if you buy two extra shelves per cabinet you can get about 400 per cabinet. We've got three. and still there's DVDs shoved in sideways in the gappy bit on every second shelf. You can see here they're not great, like you can still see the IKEA holes cos the shelves are too deep, but they're grand.

Naw, those are Billys with two extra shelves each, which are 28cm deep: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/83688210

If I was buying again, I'd consider getting Vatterns cos they come in 19cm deep, but then again, I'm not sure if you can get them as wide: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S69823934

the billys are best for the space i got...and i don't trust
myself bolting anything to a wall

You can see here they're not great, like you can still see the IKEA holes cos the shelves are too deep, but they're grand.

Also worth pointing out that Ikea don't allow the combination of doors AND extra shelves, so if you want both, you better have a drill handy to make new holes.
