I think the vast majority of people who go to Oxygen don't usually go to gigs, or if they do it's once or twice a year, so this gives them the chance to see all the bands they hear about in news and on radio in one weekend, so they can spend the next year going "magic numbers? yeah, saw them live once, they were alright". It's a festival of convenience more than anything else.
