This is how I make mine.

Get cheese and chopped onion onto a small plate.

Microwave 45 seconds.

Put melty cheese and onion between two slices of toast.

I'm only telling you's because its the nicest cheese toasty you'll ever have.Try it.TODAY!

technically thats a toasted sandwhich with microwaved cheese and onion. Its getting high time that i rolled out that new toastie i invented.

I've no idea why I capitalised toasted cheese and onion sandwichs in the thread title.

For added awesome I suppose.

Seriously though.TRY IT.

It's in my repertoire but I prefer to stick one slice of toast in under the cheese and onion, I find 30 seconds melts it enough before the toast goes soggy at least in the microwave here anyway.

the cheese and onion flavour combo is hard to top.

question to both:

i consider microwaves sacrelidge in cooking (due to the nutrition drop mostly) - but does the microwave make the cheese brown and crackle a little on top?? i was meaning to start a cheese/toast thread for weeks now.

Talk of nutrition has no place in a cheese toastie thread but while we're there once the cheese browns you've taken more nutrition out of it then 30 seconds in a microwave would.

Nooly's already answered the other question but I feel you need to try this method before you start knocking it.

my latest toastie fix has been LIDL based.

LIDL bread.
plain white cheddar.
small cubes of feta.
quartered stuffed olive and cherry tomato.
sometimes basil and pepper.

moose, asking question isnt knocking. knocking questions is.

I think calling Gary's method sacrilege covers knocking it.

gazzywazzy, yes it is a bit - the one i'm going to roll out later in the thread is pretty yuppie too, be warned. I cant do it without photo's so it'll have to wait till later.

I'm moist with cheesy anticipation

You talk a big game AP.I'll give ya that.

You know whats rocking?Making my toastie using a burger bun instead of pan.
