Hard drive always being accessed? (2 Viewers)

I picked up one of those Aldi PCs last week (its running window 7).

The hard drive seems to be making noise like I'm constantly writing to it even if the PC is being left idle.

I turned off the Windows indexing service but didn't seem to have made much difference..Could it be my Anti-virus software?

Any idea why this is happening? it doesn't seem normal to me.

You could always turn off the anti virus and see if it stops.
Is there some defrag thingy running all the time in the background?

the AV shouldn't be constantly accessing the hard disc, unless a full scan is constantly repeating.
does task manager show any unusually active tasks?

Demonic Possession was my first guess and after much holy water flinging I think I've ruled this out.


These are the processes running:

I have an external Seagate that can't accesses randomly as well...And that hasn't died on me.

The thing is if i need to return it - being an Aldi computer they'll give cash as this special offer is sold out.

Do an Msconfig and then add stuff back after determnation if there is any noticeable effect...

Nero is some disk burning thingy isn't it? Why would that be running - I wonder does the programme have some crappy taskbar thing.

i'd lose divxupdate too, and acrotray too. no need to have them running at startup.
