Ham Sandwich, O’ Emperor, The Chapters, Patrick Kelleher and his Cold Dead Hands, The Holy Roman Army, Sleep Thieves, and Butterfly Explosion All Lined Up For Haiti Aid Dublin 2010.

Keep your diary free on Wednesday 3rd February. The line-up for Haiti Aid, a spectacular music marathon taking place in Whelans and The Village, has just been announced with all proceeds raised on the night going directly to the Irish Red Cross Haiti appeal. Ham Sandwich, The Chapters, Butterfly Explosion and Sleep Thieves are just some of the top acts confirmed for the gig which takes place on Wednesday 3rd February. Tickets are 20 euros and are available on ticketmaster.ie, tickets.ie, WAV box office, Citydiscs, and Road Records. Quick link: https://www.tickets.ie/secure/booking1.aspx?event=VGVZ7

The event will be hosted by Michele Doherty and boasts a strong line up of music talent, all of which have given their time free of charge to support the event. A total of 14 of bands will perform during the evening. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some of Ireland’s best musical talent while also helping a worthy cause. All funds raised go towards the work of the Irish Red Cross who are working on the ground in Haiti.

The devastating earthquake which hit Haiti on 12th January has continued to dominate news headlines such was the impact caused. The earthquake has left thousands of men, women and children without homes, food and access to the most basic of supplies and medical equipment. The Irish Red Cross is one aid agency struggling to cope with the massive humanitarian crisis that has hit in the aftermath of the earthquake. Haiti Aid 2010 is one way you can contribute to a worthwhile cause and help the hundreds of thousands of people left helpless following this atrocity.

Event organiser, Ciara Buckley, spent some time in Haiti in 2005 so this particular cause is especially close to her heart. “I travelled to Haiti in 2005 to work with the street children there and my experiences of that time have stayed with me ever since. The earthquake has had a truly devastating impact on a country that is one of the poorest in the world. We hope that through Haiti Aid we can raise a significant amount of money which, through the Irish Red Cross, will help the thousands of people whose lives have been affected by the earthquake”.
