Or satchel or hold all or whatever you refer to it as. Today I have

a copy of In Cold Blood
a scarf (it's still cold)
an external harddrive
a notebook and pens
travel toothbrush

has anyone actually gotten all the way through this yawn fest and felt
it worth the slog?

Have started this bland bit of literature about 4 times, once actually making it about half way through... before giving up in a state of chronic apathy.
Did you start reading this after seeing the film capote (which i still must see)?

Yes. I read it over the course of about 5 evenings earlier this month. I thought it was excellent, both as work of its time and in its wider context as the project that broke Mr Capote, pretty much. I haven't seen the film.

I love it. It's one of my favourite books. When I finished it, I read Norman Mailer's "The Executioner's Song". Fantastic.
Must read more Mailer.

Back on topic... my bag contains the same items as yesterday, but now with added miso soup! (O2 bill still unpaid...)

I was reading it before the film came out, then I succumbed to curiosity (and my love of P S Hoffman) and watched and enjoyed the film. I'm still enjoying the book, but I never make enough time to actually get through books fast enough.
