So we call ourselves the crayon set – we’re currently a 3-man, 2-woman indie powerpop band. We listen to everything but our sound seems to be influenced by these guys in particular: velvet underground, teenage fanclub, stereolab, arcade fire, sufjan stevens, belle and sebastian – and these kind of bands would give you an idea of the direction we’re trying to go in.

We use a lot of instruments (guitar, piano, double bass, violin, clarinet, trumpet, er cowbell..). So basically we don’t have enough hands to go around….Looking for someone who is creative, has similar musical taste, is dedicated, doesn’t have a massive ego and who feels they can contribute something - add additional melody lines, add atmosphere to the songs etc.

We’re NOT:
- a singer-songwriter type band
- a typical guitar rock band
And in terms of the music we play we’ve little interest in these genres: metal, goth, blues, emo, prog, math-rock, grunge.

Ideally you should be able to play a few instruments well (including guitar and bass) and maybe one or 2 more (accordion, banjo, brass, strings, kazoo…). Vocal ability would be cool too. Age-wise we’re 23-33. We're a decent live act now but next few months will be about getting songs arrangements right and recording EP (this is lined up). We rehearse on Thursday and Sunday evenings in the city centre in a really nice dedicated rehearsal room.

Alternatively if you play brass or strings (anything a bit different) and want to take part on a more part-time basis this could work too…

Please pm for links and email address (this is my first post here so seemingly I'm not allowed...thanks moderator dudes...). or search for "the crayon set" on myspace for some oldies but goldies.

Bit cheeky.

Hey
It's lovely weather isn't it?

Anyways, Smur89 - thanks for the feedback and interest. Guitar and bass would be the essentials - and if you were musical hope you'd be keen (& quick) to pick up a few more...
Sure if you're interested send on your email and any links to previous bands and we can chat more...

later

Checked out your myspace and have been humming your tunes all day. (pretty infectious stuff). I have being playing accoustic and electric guitar for as long as i can remember and also mandolin (as well as dabbling with a Bouzikee) if thats any good to you !! and would certainly be intersetd. You can give me a shout if you wish at [email protected]
