The Guggenheim Grotto are Kevin May; Mick Lynch and Shane Power, all multi-instrumental and completely at home in charge of a breathtaking array of instruments both in the studio and onstage, and to cap it all they create some of the finest vocal harmonies going. Live, the band is supplemented by Billy Bergin on upright and electric bass.
The band has gigged extensively supporting [FONT=Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif]Christy Moore, Mundy, Damien Dempsey and The Walls along the way .[/FONT]
With debut album ‘Waltzing Alone’ released on September 9th. The lead single from the album was [FONT=Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif]Ian Dempsey’s Single of the Week on Today FM’s breakfast show and was playlisted by 2FM, made a Power Pla[FONT=Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif]y[/FONT] on [FONT=Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif]WLR FM, [/FONT][/FONT]
On its first week of release 2FM playlisted another album track, Wonderful Wizard, Tom Dunne made the band his Pet Sounds Rising Artist and the response to the record, to its one-of-a-kind red leather binding and to the band’s wonderful live shows has created a feeling that something huge is waiting just around the corner for the Guggenheim Grotto. And in the US where awareness of the band is rising thanks to support from [FONT=Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif]Bruce Warren at WXPN and Nic Harcourt at KCRW.[/FONT]
This special show will be a a taster of waht they will get in Austin, Texas where they will be showcasing their smorgasbord of talent as part of the annual SXSW music festival
