good php for beginners book (1 Viewer)

Hi, can anyone recommmend a really intuitive easy to understand PHP book for beginners - something that is able to explain everything from the basics up i.e. this is a variable, this is what it does, this is a data type and this is when you use it, this is how to connect to a database and send/retrieve data...

It would be ideal if the standard assumes you have HTML, CSS etc.. but perhaps no more and if the content preps the reader to create something to the standard of a basic password protected CMS...
A tall order?? i think not. please help, much obliged, feel free to pry for more detail, thanks.

First search in google. Anyway all you need to learn an web language is the internet, everything you get in a book is online for free

The online PHP manual itself, from what I can remember of learning from it years and years ago was pretty good. Though I approached it from the position of already having programmed in a few different languages.

+1 on the php manual suggestion, but if you are looking for a book Programming php byLerdorf is good covers all the bit you are looking for, good reference book to hang on to too.
