Giuliani: No 'domestic terror attacks' under Bush (1 Viewer)

(CNN) - Echoing recent comments from former Bush administration officials, Rudy Giuliani defended former President George Bush's record on terrorism Friday, saying the country was not subjected to domestic terror attacks when he was in office.

"We had no domestic attacks under Bush; we've had one under Obama," Giuliani said on ABC's Good Morning America.


Democrats and other political observers were quick to question Giuliani's comments, wondering how the former New York City mayor would classify the attacks of September 11, 2001, as well as Richard Reid's attempted shoe-bombing in late 2001.

Domestic Terrorism – A terrorist attack in a country by citizens of that country – IE: Oklahoma City bombing. Or IRA attacks in Ireland, etc.

International Terrorism – A terrorist attack in a foreign country by citizens not belonging to that country. IE: 9/11, Shoe Bomber, etc.

I'm shocked the ABC reporter didn't pick up this moment of crazy and press him on it. Giuliani's spokesman has come out and said that "clearly he meant post-9/11." Although Giuliani apparently believes that that the shoe bomber attack occurred before 9/11.

Domestic/international debate, fair enough. But what about the Washington sniper attacks?

And if it were the context he would hardly be using the lack of "domestic terror attacks" under Bush to condemn Obama for the attempted attack on Christmas Day which also was not a "domestic terror attack". He's tying himself in the most ridiculous knots in trying to score political points. He's also an idiot.
