www.IrishUnsigned.com set to Launch with Dublin Gig.

Irish Unsigned - a new website specifically for bands and artists (not signed to the major record labels) to get advice and to get themselves heard - even if they never want to get 'signed', is set to launch officially in Whelans of Dublin on March 8th 2002.

While the site is still in it's very early stages and seeking a redesign, the launch will go ahead with a gig that will feature 'Alistair', last year's Hot Press Plugged finalists, as well as the very talented 'Berkeley' who just finished an in-studio working session with legendary Nirvana producer Steve Albini, and 'Sutras' who were the critically acclaimed runner-up to 'Immodium' in last years National Student Music Awards and charted with 'Princess'.

Might even be more - who knows!? Tickets will cost e7.50 - not bad for 3 or 4 bands on the night, right?

If you happen to have a Demo with you then bring it and give it to us. There will be people there from Echo records in the UK, as well as Sony and some journalists (the usual suspects, we think!).

If you have any questions about the gig, or want to get your band/act involved, contact [email protected]

More gigs will follow. Want to play one? Got what it takes? Demos on CD to Ron Healy, Irish Unsigned, ROC PR, The Factory, 35a Barrow Street, Dublin 4 or email me at [email protected] and I will tell you what we need (in terms of links etc).

One of the most useful aspects (although totally unofficial) of involvement with IU when it eventually grows up, for any band, is our list of connections and contacts from other projects we work/worked on.

They cover every corner of Ireland and every aspect of the multiple genres in the industry, as well as every demographic section of society.

The list is cross country, cross genre, cross demographic -
which we want the site to be - and fairly impressive (even though I
deliberately didn't mention any personalities names).

It is not a commercial organisation but IU has the potential to provide everything that the commercial music industry can. For free, and unbiased by
industry concerns such as profitability and fashion/taste etc.

We are trying to create a portal that will be recognisable as a place to gain access to the very best of unsigned acts across all genres. The name we feel is very important in that it states exactly what the site is and it is up.

We hope that music industry professionals and fans alike will recognise that the best of irish talent is featured on the site eventually, even if it is
simply by linking. It is intended to be a resouce site *exclusively for unsigned acts*, even if they never intend to be signed and want to do a DIY album or video, eventually
offering quite basic information currently unavailable on other similar sites (A&R listings of phone number and email, Addresses for band competitions submissions etc). The regular live gigs will also offer more exposure for acts and will complement the website and it's aim to expose, help and develop new and emerging talent.

If a band has any sense they would submit their demos to all relevant exposure sites! We don't see ourselves in competition with anyone else but we intend to maximuse the usefulness of the site for all interested acts. We will even feature a section dedicated to listing other similar sites.

IrishUnsigned is currently the only site *exclusively* dedicated to the
development of every type of Irish unsigned talent.

Other plans include free Poster and CD-cover design (eventually), free video or animation production, mentoring system, peer-for-peer reviews, and anything else we can think of and work out.

If you have any more questions, please fling them at us. Email them, as we cannot be in every Forum all the time, but make them relevant. If I take a long time to
reply, it is because we are busy, not because we are ignoring you.

One thing, though: we know the site looks awful and is not exactly brimful yet. This is because we are launching earlier than expected. Bear with us...
