GAVIN GLASS PERFORMS LIVE ON RTÉ 2XM
This Tuesday at 7pm on RTÉ 2XM, Robotnik's Random Rampage rebroadcasts the programme that remembers the life of Gerry Ryan and looks back at one of the greatest broadcasters Ireland has ever produced. While Chris Morrin looks back at Gerry’s career in the RTÉ studios, he takes time out to play some tunes - dedicated online from his fans - from the likes of Queen, Sinead O Connor, Elvis and much much more. Repeated Friday at 6pm.
Following at 8pm on Needs More Cowbell Cian and Keith will be putting new releases from Villagers, The National and Foals under the microscope and they'll be taking a special look at the Rolling Stones classic album Exile on Main Street which is now 40 years old! As well as this they'll be playing more tracks from Fast Forward, the excellent World Cup compilation album released by Indiecater Records, check it out at www.indiecater.com. At 12 midday on Wednesday Miss Paula Flynn introduces The C Word, where she features an interview with Irish musician Gavin Glass including an exclusive live performance of his song Just Like Rome. Greg McAteer will as always be talking about a song that shaped the face of country, also a new addition on The C Word is a 'hymn of the hour' and we will be playing more old time country, bluegrass, some gospel and some blues.
Jack Fox wraps up the week on Saturday night at 10pm as he introduces a guestmix from Hey Champ on Synths Vs Strings. The band have gained stature in both the rock and dance communities by sharing the stage with international sensations like Justice, Sebastian Tellier, The Sounds, Midnight Juggernauts, Kid Sister, Datarock and The Bloody Beetroots just to name a few. With a schedule including some of the biggest festivals and tours of the year, international acclaim for their hit Cold Dust Girl, and a soon to be released debut album, expect big things from the Illinois outfit.
