hey
Estel play in isaac butts on friday the 23th of november with help from belfast
band Tracer Amc, if anyone wants to come along?.
isaac butts was a better option than going through with the whole "trying to
get whelans on a friday chase"... there is new management and they have halved
the size of the bar to give the place more capacity , plus other stuff to make
it more "gig friendly", apparently... and there is that indie club 'supremo'
afterwards til half two, which HAS to be better than whelans...[free in to if
you go to the gig]..
so yeah please come along, last estel gig before tour and then you have to wait
til january..
thanks for reading anyway,
jamie

ps: here is some stuff about tracer amc..

"Tracer amc use repeated guitar and bass melodies to create stunning sound
structures and the release of the pelican e.p. on Errol Records[part-time home
of Redneck Manifesto, Cereberus Shoal and Rumah Sakit] sees the band expand
its array of sounds to include glockenspiel and violin; this release has been
likened to beauty of Tristeza, Low, Mercury Rev, My Bloody Valentine & Mogwai."

Drowned in sound magazine [uk] review of Pelican e.p
"Its a cold, dark night. You see your breath in the air as you walk through
the streets. The stars above you twinkle and youre full of hope. No words
could sum up how you feel; this is where Tracer AMC come in. Think the glorious
understatement of Low, the obvious instrumental similarity with Mogwai but more
so the increased orchestral development of the Come On Die Young album, the
twinkling pianos of Mercury Rev (although youll have to imagine those pianos
sounding like glockenspiels). Add a touch of Galaxie 500 and youll have the
dream-worthy tracks of Tracer AMC. Magical"

Record Collector review of the Pelican e.p
"Join us, if you will, in the murky yet beguiling world of Tracer AMC. What the
music or the band's name means, we know not, but both sound pretty darn good.
It's an worn-out comparison, but if you're partial to the quiet side of Mogwai,
then this should be right up your street.
The band claim to be part of a nu-gazing movement, but that's doing themselves
a disservice, we feel. The shuffling beats halfway through, when the song
changes direction completely, make for a varied listen much more worthy than
the meandering indulgence of so many other miserable indie types. Brilliant."

about something totally different:
doesn't anyone have access to a hi-8 camera that i can borrow to transfer video footage on to my computer? please?
no one seems to use these anymore...
i have some really cool stuff that i wanna put online for all to see...
thanks...

i can (probably) get a hi-8 projector, and there's a box available to help make tip top quality copies onto proper vijo tape

but the projector in question has got no sounds....

hey the tracer amc boys do a distro/label called we love records..
and distributes records on the touch & go, southern, k-punk, kranky, constellation, tigerstyle, merge, mypalgod, slowdime, monitor, quarterstick & dischord labels...and others...
and guess what, they'll have their distro with them along with some other people so bring buckets of cash if you wanna buy some records on the cheap...

Very interesting news on Issac Butt. Hope it works out. Is that rim still doing sound?

please don't say there is a pleb on the sound? what's the story with him? are we better off bringing our own person? i've never been in the place...

hey thanks to anyone who came to the gig, tracer amc were brilliant even though their amp broke just before they played...isaac butts seems to be a great place to play, not too big, not too small and the sound man was nice and friendly and let you do whatever you wanted, maybe more people will do gigs there... i'm sick of whelans....
