1- Cape Fear ( De Niro, nuff said)
2 - Shutter Island (Because it's last 10 minutes are stuff even M Night shalamb a lamb would have said wait a minute, no, that's ridiculous, Pity it ends so badly Bit like Danny Boyles Sunshine in that regard)
3 - Gangs Of New York (The accents, the set piece fights, the set that was the size of a fucking baseball stadium, and how exactly with so many Irish lads on set did Cameron Diaz not get a punch in the jaw ?)
4 - The Departed (Mark Wahlberg and Jack Nicholson are taking the piss, but Alec Baldwin is taking the piss out of the concept of taking the piss, it must have been edited during a speed binge and it's brilliant)
5 - Casino (The violence is ridiculous, the costumes are ridiculous, Joe Pesci is ridiculous, It's the 70s in Las Vegas of course it's fucking ridiculous)

The best bit in Cape Fear is when Nick Nolte slips in the maid's blood.
My favourites are De Niro singing at the end with a melted head.
The long close ups of the teddy bear.
The scene where deniro bates a few lads with a pipe while Nolte hides behind a dumpster.
De Niros disguise.
Or every scene between Juliette Lewis and De Niro. Veering from creepy to comical constantly. Has anyone actually read Sexus ?
It's all mega directing / mega acting gold really, right up there with Herzog's Bad Lieutenant.
You could do a class triple bill with those two and Face/Off. Many lols and a drinking game, every time you see a dove a lizard or the cape fear theme comes on.

I honestly don't think I appreciated how bonkers this film is til you compared it to Bad Lieutenant.
I may have to watch it again now.

Is Hollywood now rehashing sections of movies instead of the whole things now ?
