“Holly Golightly and Lawyer Dave's self-produced duets recall Leadbelly and Jimmy Reed, as well as the gospel recordings of Loretta Lynn and Nancy & Lee.” – Mojo

“Alarmingly authentic.” – Uncut

“These tunes could easily slot onto a Harry Smith Folkways anthology of field recordings or an obscure collection of ancient rock'n'roll.” – Spin.com

Holly Golightly started her musical career as a founder member of all girl garage band Thee Headcoatees, a Billy Childish/Thee Headcoats splinter group in 1991.

She spent four years as a Headcoatee before breaking away to release her debut record, The Good Things in 1995. Where the Headcoatees sound was a blend of girl group sounds and three-chord garage-rock with all the original songs coming from the pen of Billy Childish, Holly’s solo sound is more a blend of pre-rock electric blues, folk rock, and less frantic rock ‘n’ roll.

Since her debut Golightly has released thirteen albums and numerous singles for a wide variety of labels. In 1999 she released an album with Billy Childish, sounding like a scuffed-up British version of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. Truly She is None Other is one of her most successful albums to date - it features the song “Tell Me Now So I Know” which was picked for the main title theme for Jim Jarmusch movie Broken Flowers.

Over the years Holly has contributed vocals for various other artists including, Mudhoney, Green Hornes, Rocket From The Crypt and White Stripes. After playing several west coast shows with The White Stripes, and supporting them at their some of their London shows, Holly recorded “It’s True that we Love One Another” with them at Toe Rag Studios.

In 2006, Holly Golightly, after eleven years of playing with a full band, decided to hook up with Lawyer Dave (a one man drum/double bass/guitar extravaganza) and simplify things by working as a duo – Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs were born.

They recorded their debut album in Christmas 2006 and You Can’t Buy A Gun When You’re Crying was released in March 2007.

Their second album Dirt Don’t Hurt was released in October 2008.

Her two tracks on the Broken Flowers OST are incredible - i'd go to this gig on the strength of those alone.
