You can find cracked copies of FD online, but I found it buggy and cranky.

I prefer using the free (donationware) alternative, Celtx:-

I have a legit copy but wanted to move it from my desktop to the laptop but I can't find the original disc anywhere. I downloaded the demo on the laptop and added my customer number and voila! Great success! Now I can sit in Starbucks/IFI and work on my script about the sassy robot!

Yeah, you can activate FD on 2 computers legally (as I do).

Just don't forget to de-activate the software before changing computers or upgrading the OS.

I did that before, pain in the ring.

Yep, I learned that the hard way too.

I have the legit copy but I have one activation and a friend of mine has the other one but now that it's on the laptop all is well.
