Favourite Die hard (1 Viewer)

er yeah, you might have missed the bit where it was me who started the Die Hard ranking posts that led to this thread, and my other posts in it

anyway I'm having a marathon this evening to refresh my memory. 20 mins into Die Hard 2 now and it's definitely the worst of the lot. going to have to get as far as 3 though before I can make a decision between 1 and 3 as the best.

Ah Crisis averted. Thought you'd gone all pink and black stripey tights on us there. Two is shit alright.

2 is definitely better than 4. 4 isn't a Die Hard film.

Maybe we should install Last Boys Scout and 16 Blocks as honourary Die Hards instead of 4.

Actually neither of them are particularly good so maybe not.

2 is probably not the worst.

3 is not the second best. And possibly not the 3rd best.

4 is grand.

It's amazing it's like he took a class in monty python acting before he started. His German doing a Yank accent is amazing. "Holy Toledo! Somebody had fun" deadly

I thought 16 Blocks was dead good actually, Mos Def was great in it somehow.

It's better than 2 which I assume makes it seem like Citizen Kane in comparison to 4.

-It's set in New York
-There's no lovey-dovey reunion at the end
-Jeremy Irons
-The animals went into the ark music

Though probably I like it most because it was the first one I saw.

The opening sequence is superb too. Summer in the city blasting lots of shots of New York and from the outset you know that it's fucking roasting then BANG the most realistic looking and strangely (for want of a better word) subtle depiction of a terrorist bombing in cinematic history. John McTeirnan is class.(though in fairness of his 13 films 9 are dogs) I love the bit where he decides to shoot the BMW flying through a concrete wall off an overpass and onto the street below in one shot with no edits. It's completely ridiculous but because it just sort of happens (without any fucking slow motion Renny Fucking Harlin you thick) you just go along with it.

The music is fucking class.
