It is. And he could totally have phoned in the rest of it after the above cover and it still would have been better than most.

I only came across it recently, amazing stuff.

Prince wrote a tribute/massively influenced semi-comedy version of it for a Time album. It's not a patch on the Isaac Hayes song but it's cool when you come across these things and can draw the dots.

I heard a version of The Smiths' Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want last night on the radio and there was a female singer. I thought it sounded gorgeous. Think it was on John Creedon's show.

Was it this?

Hmmm I think that is the one but I think I prefer the first one you proffered. What a whopper of a song.

Yeah, my favourite Smiths song. Johnny Marr is an amazing musician, to the extent that Morrissey solo could never be as interesting due to his absence.

sweet - Both Sides Now

Very nice. I know its a Joni song, but I always like the Judy Collins version best..

That line.... Tears and fears and feeling proud, to say, "I love you" right out loud.... gets me every time

I always thought Johnny Cash and June Carter's version of this sounded faintly ridiculous compared to Bobby Darin's. Nowhere close
