So i won a pair of trainers on ebay this afternoon, got a message from ebay shortly after saying the seller was cancelling the transaction cause they were out of stock of said item,i don't believe this is the case, rather the seller was expecting to get more for them and wants to try sell them again in a while (they're a limited edition edition puma,my bid was only 10 pound over the retail price and tbh i did expect to pay more than i did)
Anyway, anything I can do about it bar starting a bogey account and ruining all her other sales or do i just have to suck it up?

Fuckin ebay bastards is right. My girlfriends going mental over a hasselblad (apt feckin name) that she bought through ebay and doesn't work. I think they set up the website and then just went on holidays forever, no humans anymore. The whole thing just keeps ploughing through internet and nobodies driving.

Edit: I'd say mess them up, Ebay doesn't really seem to exist so it's difficult to get sellers to do anything.. I'm sure others here have more than my fairly limited experience though, so maybe not

I believe you could go after them legally, there's a contract between you in an auction. But who wants the hassle?

You could open a claim if it's still within 45 days?

I bought a record off a guy last week and he had no Paypal account, my e-banking was down so I had to go to the bank and fill out a transfer slip, old school. I put down 10.50 and I got an email two days later saying that he'd received the payment but that it was 30 cents short. I emailed back saying that it was an honest mistake, and that surely he didn't want me to fill in a bank transfer for 30 cents.
He emailed back the he doesn't care how I do it, I just owe him 30 cents.
I'm going to post him a euro and tell him to post me back the change.

what's wrong with the hasselblad?
Damn and those are fucking expensive even 2nd hand.

Ah, loads of shit.. apparently nearly every component had a problem and it's still not going, despite it being listed as functional with minor cosmetic damage. She got ripped off before with a camera sent from Russia to the wrong address too, a friend in the post office said it was a common scam, so it's doubly annoying now! Well, a nice repairman is working on it for a low rate at least. Sorry for the hijack, hope you get it sorted or exact retribution Theodore.

Was it a German seller? A lot of the Germans don't do paypal and insist on bank transfers.

ebay can be prick laden.
in years of buying crap I have three golden rules;
-check sellers feedback, make sure it extends back 6months+, and not 2 weeks
-if youre buying something expensive and second hand, best to get it from someone who specialises/deals specifically with that stuff. ie, Ive bought a good few camera oddments over the years, always from people who are carrying a lot of camera gear in their stores
-if at all possible when dealing with guys in the states, get them to ship stuff standard USPS - minimises the likelyhood of getting raped financially by our customs.

Amazing,a few days after me telling the seller i didn't believe the item was out of stock as she claimed it shows up in her listings again with a b.i.n. nearly twice what I paid.Either she's thick as two planks or ebay really don't give a flying fuck and she knows it.Emailed them so I'll see what happens next.

A million times this. UPS not only will 100% put your item through customs but then charge you €15 for the service of it. Absolute pricks.

Never had any problem with Ebay, having said that; I've pretty much only ever bought Warhammer Quest figurines, and nerds are the most trustworthy people ever.

I've bought maybe 3 things from ebay. I think people can get a bit caught up in the bidding thing.

I remember bidding on a DVD boxset of Sherlock Holmes films (the Basil Rathbone ones). The bidding was going up all the time. I dropped out. I think it peaked at over €55, not including postage. I looked on amazon and there was the same boxset for 15 sterling second hand.

Fucking hell,I don't remember starting an ebay account being this difficult before.whats the worst that can happen if i use an account I already have to buy up all your ones stuff with no intention of paying?she's got a good few buy it now's that would total well over a thousand euro...

hmm - possibly you'd just get kicked out of ebay.

i'm bidding on a really cool jacket (trust me)
there's two other people bidding on it but the usernames seem totally false. (i***I) and 0***1
are these more than likely people who work for that particular ebay store to bump up the price on the auction?
