a bit morbid, perhaps, but i just recently had the idea to put together a cd of songs i'd want to have played as i shuffled off this mongo coil. not that i'm actually going to do it, as i'm far too lazy, but i just got thinking what songs i've heard over the past 30 years i would warrant as being worthy. and because i was reading the new Iron & Wine review on Pitchfork when i thought of it, i decided one of the tracks would be their "Naked As We Came".

so, what would you want to be the last song you ever heard?

Pilgrims by Van der Graaf Generator

im going out on a high, no miserable whining for me. pilgrims is the first song on Still Life - if i dont die just at the moment the song ends i want to last til the end of the album and the final line which is "in the death of mere humans life shall start", again this is another suitably triumphant note to mark my death.

'Gates of Steel', DEVO. Only because its accessible to the crowd.
"the beginning was the end, of everything, now.
the ape regards his tail, he' stuck on it.
repeats until he fails,
have a goo now have a gaa,
a man's not made of steel"

the nokia ring tone followed by dissident aggressor, the slayer version.

as much as i love Slayer, i just wouldn't imagine they would be comforting to listen to as you lay dying.

Hell's Bells by AC/DC, maybe an instrumental version if that were possible.

Possibly followed by Burn One Down by Ben Harper.
