Sweetie/pissypants- Unfortunately you can't register for Spotify any longer in Ireland. The premium version was a tenner a month and there was a workaround to get the free version but alas both those options are gone. The free version had been locked out for a while since they had copped on that were getting it on the sly (and no ads!) but it mysteriously started working again after Christmas.

AFAIK they have stopped the proxies from accessing the signup page so the only way that you could probably still get it is if you know somebody that has the Premium version in the UK. They would be able to give you an invite and sign you up from there- the only problem would be that you can only 'travel' outside of your country for 14 days...not sure if the option to change your country to Ireland would still be there. If you know somebody in the UK that has it- its worth a shot. One of the best music applications I have seen and the back catalogue and speed that it plays the tunes is unbelievable.

I'm using the free version of spotify but I'm at pains in actually signing up to the premium service. Won't accept Irish paypal (they check the country of payment origin) and my regular Irish AIB CC comes back as 'Declined' which is their way of saying 'sorry, not in the UK sucker'. I signed up for an entropay.com virtual visa, no dice, same 'declined' message so they're blocked them aswell. Then I set up a completely new paypal a/c with a UK address and set the entropay card as the fund payer - I get the same 'sorry, wrong country' error. Arghh. They've probably copped on to my attempts, might try setting up a new spotify a/c and trying the UK paypal thing again but all through a UK proxy so it looks super legit.

Anyone successfully beat their payment geoblocking?

Which country do you have your Spotify account set to? If it's set as Ireland and there isn't a way to change this (no access right now so can't check if it's even possible) then it might not accept the payment regardless of where the CC account is.
I presume that you are trying to get the Premium version so that you can try to use the iPhone app? Another set of issues there as well from what I remember- you have to link the iPhone to the UK store to get the app...not sure how easy that is since I don't have an iPhone.

If I get a chance I will actually try to dig out some Irish artists on Spotify so I can be back on topic!

I've country set to UK (London) & bah, you're right, I'd have to change to the UK app store. And I've recently upgraded the iPhone to v3.1.3 so not sure how easy it is to jailbreak. double argh.
