Clothes and haircuts (2 Viewers)

If a jacket has SeanC's ex sliding off her stool, and his t-shirt game has been strengthened, and he needed a watch for work, the thought occurred to me that spending a day's pay on something that will elevate his already good appearance, doesn't seem like the world's worst investment. I like the guy.
That's it.
But it was only offered as a consideration. Not instruction.

If y'all hate watches, and think they're for cunts, that's fine too. Life is a very rich pageant.

just to be clear here, i've absolutely no beef with someone wearing a €300 watch. i start to get wary of them if it's a €5000 watch, say.
wearing the latter is peacocking; the former is not.

It's not for me, but I get it.

Some people spend that much on an engagement ring. Or an extension or a bathroom renovation. Or a holiday.

I can see the attraction of wanting to own the same model watch that was on the moon or a James Bond Seamaster. The way some people love a classic Saab. Or listen to vinyls. Or ride a carbon fibre bike.

I think the main concern I would have (for anyone I gave a shit about) is expecting these things to make you happy. When most of us know that 'things' don't usaully do that. Or not for long anyways. These people will find that out eventually.

Everyone else is on their own and good luck to them.

I've no beef with anyone doing their thing really.

What's going on here? Almost sorry I brought it up. Watches are grand.

I'm far too invested in you getting some action, and it is costing me friends.

But I live by a code, and that is price I shall pay. (noble)

There are some really beautiful G-Shocks here and they claim to be basically unbreakable.
There's a million of them - they go from understated to gaudy.

Fitbit watches get too sweaty and sticky in warm environments- Kind of at odds with their intended purposes. I had to take mine off today.

I'm concerned to hear you're all out there espying each other's watches. When I get a piece of clothing that I like and wear frequently, I'll go back and buy it in multiple colours. This year I found a good dress so I bought two more, but it only came in one colour so I've three identical dresses. As far as anyone in the office knows, I haven't changed clothes in months. I didn't think anyone would be noticing, but if you lot can note a watch....

I don't need to be attracting beautiful men or anything, but I don't want the office to think I'm stinky.

I also have a cartoon character level of similar outfits. Similar, not identical. Both for in and outside of work. I think it provides familiarity and comfort to the group.

Nothing wrong with it, these pockets have purposes!

I can honestly say the only time I noticed a man's watch was at an awkward work do. I asked how many watches do you own. He said "One hundred and fifty four".
And so followed hours of watch talk.

Maybe that explains my aversion.

That's a very precise answer. My old boss used to collect whiskey and if you asked him how many bottles he owned he said 'over 100'. Knowing it that precisely is weird.
