Its called wintering. They are sent out for winter with the geldings usually in packs of 4 or 5 after they are vaccinated for immature fluke worm which only has a 80% success rate. They stay alive by harmonising, dancing and general joshing and tom foolery, essential skills for the hard road they have ahead. Sadly some dont make it and can be seen handing out flyers at traffic lights or working in champion sports.
