i didn't even see you there. i was totally glad i brought my knitting. the woman is clearly mad as a brush.

Didn't see you there either, which is strange considering it was bright and there were only 100 other people there AND I wasn't even drunk, sigh. You're not really knitting are you?

she just came off as a few wasps short of a picnic. the mad dancing feet, the saying random things like "it's not wet in here" and "reverb helps my.. self.. relax", the nonstop playing, the apologising, the inability to play one song from beginning to end.. etc. not saying i didn't enjoy it -- her voice is one of the amazingest things ever -- but yeah, i was glad i had my knitting.
mad dancing feet - already addressed
'it's not wet in here' - was raining when we left, she's obviously some class of prophet.
'reverb helps my.. self.. relax' - this is actually not all that uncommon with eccentric, musical people.john lennon couldn't bear to hear himself sing when he was doing the plastic ono band stuff unless it was drowned in reverb.
yes she's odd, so are lots of people, but she's very fucking talented, surely more important than a few quirks.

i dunno, i think it's generally not too nice to say unfair things about people, regardless of whether or not they're going to get to read them

(though i suppose other people reading the thread might care - it might appear to imply that they were going to a gig out of some kind of 'look at the looney' voyeurism rather than because they wanted to go to a cool gig - but it's no biggie)

hey, it's just my opinion. if she doesn't want to come off as mad as a brush, maybe she should try meditating before going on stage or something.

I agree that she was nervous rather than mad. She appears to have zero self-esteem and no capacity for masquerading that fact with bravado. Which is sad.

Although, at the same time, performing is her job. Now I know it's an unusual job in that it can often involve tapping into various emotions, experiences and memories in a way that isn't true of, say, architecture or carpentry or whadeva.

Still though. It is a job. And you expect someone to perform.

You wouldn't expect to have to stand beside a plumber yelling "You can do it!! I believe in you!!!"

What's happened to you? Don't tell me I spent two years training you in the black arts of gossiping and back-biting for you to throw it all out the window with a pastel statement like this!
