Cat discipline (1 Viewer)

If you're going to let her out, make sure you do it just before she's due to be fed, ie. when she's good and hungry. That way you'll be sure she won't stray too far from home.
She *should* spend ages checking out your garden, she'll be smelling everything especiallly the places that other cats have sprayed, etc.

About the litter box, why not start over again, get a new box ( I use one of those storage boxes with high sides so less litter spilled out on the floor) totally free from cat-smells, maybe change your brand of litter too, cats are very odour-sensitive, and last of all, make sure that the corner that you keep her litter box in is totally clean and doesn't have some residual cat-smell.
Worth a try, isn't it?:)

That's very sound advice thank you.

Ever thought about actually toilet training her?

Also, what kind of litter do you use? My mum uses the wood pellet stuff you can flush away and the cat never seems to have had a problem with it.
It might be an idea to give the places she uses in the house a good scrub, but using natural cleaning stuff like lemons and vinegar and the like...I read somewhere that cats don't like the smell of detergents and so try to cover it up by spraying over it. Also, they tend to like to use cluttered places like corners where carrier bags are kept and general stuff.

when i had cats, they shat EVERYwhere...
so i invested in some cat books and was told to put tinfoil or orange peel around where they would be shitting.. worked.

In a related query, how do you get rid of an interloping cat?

That white cat I was gushing about before has been making a complete nuisance of herself. She hangs around our garden and continuously attacks my (already deeply neurotic) cat.

Thus far, no amount of yelling, chasing and flapping has convinced her to go away.

Piss right off.

buy a water pistol with decent range (super-soaker pistols are great, because they have a sustained squirt) and go to town on the offending mog. Might take a few days, but should improve things.

Cats eh? Well, there's this cat that definitely doesnt live in my back garden and definitely doesnt get fed every day by a mystery person and definitely doesnt have a shelter in the garden to protect her from the rain. Definitely not. Well, this cat who doesnt get fed etc turned up as usual yesterday morning for her breakfast. Except this time she brought the family. 4 gorgeous little kittens are even as we speak playing chasing in my back garden and knocking over/chewing everything in sight.

Rang the DSPCA who very kindly said they would euthenaise (apologies for spelling) them for free. So, thats not an option. Have to somehow find a solution tomorrow though. What to do with 4 feral kittens. Quality entertainment from them though.

We've been tossing jugs of water in her general direction several times a day. She couldn't give a rat's ass.

My cat's nerves are shot to pieces.

you sound like my ma

who, incidentally, didn't buy a tray of catfood to feed to the strays. ever.

I tried the jugs of water too, with no effect. The focused soaking seemed to work though.
