decent quality wooden
something simple but classy, with a certain je ne sais quoi

and a drinks holder and ashtray on each side (not really)

there's an awful lot of shitty chess sets out there and i can't face trawling through em
but neither can i afford to just throw a few hundred quid at an expensive one to save me from trying to judge if it's good or not

halp?

or pieces made from crushed stone rather than wooden but either depending on niceness and cheapness

i've a lovely stone one, got it as a leaving pressie in my last job, cause i was always playing chess online when i was supposed to be working. not sure what shop in dublin would sell them, might be some nice ones on ebay.

my brother was at a party before where two guys were demented and having a game of "mental chess" in their heads apparently. just blurting "pawn b 5" at each other and pretending they knew what the fuck was going on.

you people are no use

i found this kama sutra set, i think it would freak my dad out if i gave him that one though

thanks for the ?help everyone...
i got an electronic chess board so my dad can amuse himself while my mum talks at him about curtains and plants and stuff in the evenings

I used to do this at school back when I was clever.
I'm not convinced I wasn't making impossible moves though.
