hello

ok well now we know about the potential restrictions on o'connell street.. so can we do anything about it?

i'd like to try and organise a collective protest on may 5th, which is 4 days before the last objections to the measures can be given to the corpo.

there are loads of different groups that protest in the street that i dont agree with but i still think they have the right to set up stalls there and say their piece. all of them.

has anyone got email addresses/contact details for any of the below:

sinn fein
republican sinn fein/saoirse
socialist worker
socialist party
youth defence
SPUC
workers solidarity
USI
abortion info
reclaim the streets dublin

and/or anyone else who uses protest as a form of communication.

hopefully, these differing factions wont end up rioting with each other, as they all should realise their common ground..

Unfortunately I think Youth Defence hold the principle of the right to life over that of the right to protest. Which is to say that if you put YD on the same street as SW or any pro-choice groups I reckon there will be violence and the violence may or may not involve mobs with hurlies.

Right if I remember correctly about four (Jesus has it been that long) years ago, when I was back in collage, Fiann Fail or one of them was trying to sex up there image. I think there was also a referendum on and they wanted everyone to vote yes. So they had this campagain that revolved around an image of two people having sex and on the side was the words "YES YES YES".

SO they were marching with this on the side of some bus, when who do they meet only the Youth Defence. Who took offence to this blatant sexual imagery without any sense of family values and duly attacked the marchers and the bus.

I always had this image similar to that episode of the Simpson’s where the krustie parade ends up in bum town, of all these jeans (on a mad casual day) and shirts heads running around trying to beat each other up and the bus just taking out at top speed. If only.

Ah the joys of reading the phoenix.

Fucking hell, get all of them together on O'Connell Street at the one time and it'll be great fun. You should e-mail the people who are organising the Critical Mass bike ride too, it'll only add to the fun if you lob a few bikes into the equation. Janey, if that happens I reckon I'll have to go up for the day, I'll bring the 'oul hurley and a bucket o' foot & mouth too...

By all means invite all these groups. But don't share the guest list among them.....

by the by that woudl be a mad wee idea l the same and i coudl video it for the wrolds most hilariisuly bloodshedding violent video show ever part 4.

but if these groups do pretest and violence erupts surely that will be of great benefit to the lobbeyists who want proests outta ere.

i'll do my own one man protest against people messing with mobile ringer tones on buses, ne1 wanna join me.

yeah, all the schools in Waterford City walked out today...3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th years only. could have been over 2,000 people in the square...maybe less.
