Sideproject is a Cork based post rock 5 piece which formed in early 2006.

Since its formation the band has been fortunate enough to have shared the stage with superb acts such as Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, God Is An Astronaut, Tubelord, Blakfish, Stanley Super 800, The Subplots, Delorentos,Vesta Varro and Fight Like Apes.... aswell as supporting London illumanaries Cars In Walls and local legends REST on their national tours respectively.

The band has to date released two EPs 'Take Shelter From The Stars' and ‘Not Waving But Drowning’ both recorded by the fantastic Ross O Donovan (Waiting Room's “Catering for Headphones”, Hooray for Humans “Safekeeping” and Cars in Wall's "Seven Cars In A Room").

As well as seeing the band embark on their first co-headline tour of the country with local greats Burn Us Both., this summer also saw the addition of the superb David Lynch (ex-Standard Deviation) to the Sideproject family.

Sideproject’s music is best enjoyed when played at half volume through pink fluffy headphones in wide-open spaces. Socks should not be worn.

This is your last chance to catch them this year!!

Get Up Get Down

Get up Get Down are Michael & Nick formerly of toneControl. Their new sound is difficult to define thanks to a wide range of influences but deliciously dirty dub seems to sum it up nicely. Seeing them on stage is a must. There, the live show becomes an infectious blend of energy & dance. The boys are about to leave the emerald isle for the bright lights of Berlin, but watch out for return appearances.

This is also your last chance to catch them before they set off for Berlin!!

Cian

Cian is a songwriter with a two-piece electro/acoustic outfit from Cork, Ireland. The music, melody driven, is a fusion of acoustic guitar with electronic beats and synths. Influences range from the sweet sublime of Jeff Buckley to the electropop inflections of The Postal Service.

From the beginning Cian’s life has been steeped in music. His parents were busy touring musicians, always either on the road or in the studio with their band. To Cian this was normal life and he always aspired to do the same.

He played drums at 4, piano at 6 and guitar at 10. “Somewhere around this time I started to write songs, my lyrics were always about weird characters and strange quirky places but as time went on I began to get more personal with my music”.

Cian’s debut EP was chosen as “Pick of the Fortnight” in Hot Press Magazine’s ‘Garageland’ section.

Cian has shared the stage with renowned artists such as British Sea Power, The 4 of Us and Cathy Davey. His debut EP has received airplay on numerous radio programmes nationwide including Larry Gogan’s popular show on 2fm.

Cian completed his first tour of the west coast of the USA in late 2007. His music was featured on popular LA acoustic radio show ‘Tied to the Tracks’ on ‘KCSN fm’.

Cian has just come off the back of his second US tour in promotion of his soon to be released second EP 'Closer'. He returned to Ireland to play the prestigious Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin on September 13th.

More on Sideproject.......

'Creative intelligence is something that the five-piece Sideproject have in abundance. 'This Morning I Fell Down and Look at What I Found' is a floating instrumental so groovy you don't miss the vocals. Vocalist Tom Kavanagh shows up for 'Outpatients' and takes us through a fine song above a sinuous shifting ryhthm and guitars that build up to a regular stormfest. 'And Each Flame Concealed A Sinner' is another instrumental also dominated by guitars, but is a heavier, more accented outing, with hints of prog rock in the arrangement, but without that genre's often pointless pomposity. We need more like them.' - Jackie Hayden, Hotpress 11/9/08

'Sideproject are giving it progressively experimental socks in ALT. The tracks we heard are, much like their fine recent EP, Not Waving But Drowning, gloom-laden with a heart.' - Johnnie Craig, State Magazine 17/9/08

'Not Waving But Drowning' picks up where their debut EP left off in early 2007 and once again find the group in fine form, weaving rich, delay-laden, snakes-and-ladder like guitar tapestries of post-rock beauty that calls to mind Unwed Sailor and Explosion in the Sky.' - Graham Lynch, Cork Independent 5/1/08

'Sideproject are fast becoming the most talked about rock act on the Leeside...a band which are sure to be one of the success stories of 2008.' - Nicola-Marie O' Riordan, Evening Echo 1/2/08

"With a distinct sound reminiscent of Biffy Clyro and Mogwai, the sheer power of their distorted guitar rock blows a considerable chunk of the audience away."- Ex2
