ah sure itll be a surprise. bit like christmas.

the first one. i was the big avid fan and went and got them the day after they were released.

ah lefty, saxons on the smokey horizon too man...

It seems that OLdham and Harem Scarem had a ten day rehearsal period before playing the dates together. We can expect to hear a new set of tunes written collaborately as well as arranged accompaniment for Oldham.

As we look forward to these gigs, the 20th odd Mr Oldham has played, here's a list of all his previous performances over here culled from the exhaustive and extremely informative Royal Stable website. Welcome back Sir. Anyone here go back as far as the first gig?(Baggot Inn!)

24/10/93 Dublin, Baggot Inn
25/10/93 Cork, UCC (?)
26/10/93 Dublin, University College
27/10/93 Dublin, Trinity College (they played 3 gigs in Dublin) (with Slint as backing band.)
28/10/93 Belfast, Queen's University Speakeasy
15/04/96 Dublin, Whelan's (Solo - with Smog?)
28/01/99 Dublin, Whelan's
29/01/99 Dublin, Whelan's
30/01/99 Cork, The Lobby
28/08/99 Skibbereen, Liss Ard Festival
Will is one of the guests who play along with Nick Cave & Guests. He and Nick played Dylan's New Pony.
Will plays three songs, with Jim White on drums, Bob Arellano and a bass player.

Will Oldham plays with David Berman and band.
They were telling jokes, read from David's book and played some songs from Palace & Silver Jews

Bonnie Prince Billy

Bonny Billy plays with Papa M in Ireland.
In both the Shelter and Vicar Street Dave Pajo opened. At the Vicar Street gig Will
played a song or two with Dave. Dave also played along on some songs with Will.
At Vicar Street they end with one verse of Leonard Cohen's "The Old Revolution"
and with Jerry Jeff Walkers' "Pissing In The Wind" (from Pajo's 'Papa M Sings' album),
halfway it turned into David Allan Coe's "Pussy Whipped Again", but only for one verse.
In Cork Bonny Billy and Papa M providing a live soundtrack to the movie Nosferatu.
20/01/01 Dublin, The Shelter
21/01/01 Dublin, Family Club (Vicar Street)
22/01/01 Cork, Triskel Arts Centre

26/10/01 Belfast, Queens University
27/10/01 Dublin, Whelan's
28/10/01 Dublin, Whelan's
29/10/01 Tramore, South
30/10/01 Limerick, Dolans
27/06/03 Dublin, Vicar Street

wow!slint as a backing!deadly.
woulda loved to see him and pajo doing "pissing in the wind".
really got in to seafarers music too. has he ever played that? not that its really an album that would work live but whens that stopped him before.?
heard great stories from lou barlow's best friend(dont ask.hehe.)that he used to do these amazing instores in the states whered he'd just lie on the shop counter and people came in and sat down. or gigs he'd do just himself and some hand claps..

twas brilliant last night.... Harem Scarem were great with the Bonny Prince.... the four women singing worked brilliantly...
the encore had "madeleine mary" and "i see a darkness" :)
also "west palm beach" is one of my favourite palace/oldham songs and he played it on his own...
alot of the stuff I didn't recognise was highly enjoyable.... twas great to see him in such fine form

You know the whole buzz about the Palace Brothers at the time was that it basically was Slint under a different name. How wrong we were .. it was deadly though. Except the TCD gig ... that was shite. Students, eh?
