Anyone hear the new Sinatra covers album yet? They're all ravin' about it.

Have only heard a couple of tracks myself...

Would be interesting to compare it to all the shitty Rod Stewart Great American Songbook albums. There's a whole world of cool music from back then that has been beaten into submission in the popular consciousness by Robbie Williams and Michael Buble-style 'swing' albums.

But if you can get the right performer doing them...
well this vs this. I suppose there'll always be someone who prefers the Robbie version.

It just seems like one of his occasional cash-ins. Like the christmas album. Lest ye forget that bob dylan exists and sells out shows every day of the year, ye be reminded that he exists with a defacto christmas album.

Considering its Sinatra, Its a bit like Beck covering NOW 5 in 2040.

I'm not sure if i've heard anything off it or not. I liked modern times and listened to it a lot.

Part of me thinks that liking/disliking Dylan is futile. Its like liking/disliking hydrogen.

The Christmas album is great. In related news, I bought Highway 61 Revisited for the first time yesterday.

My favourite track from Highway 61 or almost anything

I read the other day that he did a session with Crazy Horse around this time (they were recording Zuma with Neil Young) where they did versions of the then about to be release/just released Blood on the Tracks material. Apparently they didn't go great together but I'd still love to hear the results of that.
