2005. But it's great and probably better than their 2006 LP, Get Lonely.

I heard Get Lonely is a wee bit miserable. But is it any good?

That previous one is an absolute belter. This Year is an all time knock me down classic. The last verse being hilarious, in a very sad and scary kind of way.

Get Lonely is pretty solid. Title track is the best thing on it.
Of the 4AD LPs, The Sunset Tree and Get Lonely are far better than Tallahassee and We Shall All be Healed.

However - the best stuff the Mountain Goats did remains the early, less polished material - like Zopilote Machine, Sweden and Full Force Galesburg.

Didn't get too many albums this year, but enjoyed this lot;

Grizzly Bear - Yellow House
Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped
Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity
Liars - Drums Not Dead
Fujiya & Miyagi - Transparent Things
Mogwai - Zidane A 21st Century Portrait OST
Yo La Tengo - IANAOYAIWBYA
Califone - Roots and Crowns
TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain
Built to Spill - You in Reverse
Midlake - Trials of Van Occupanther

Righteous Harmony just robbed most of my list ... but anyway albums I got from this year that I liked a lot were:

The Joanna Newsom one
The Scott Walker one
Boris/Sunno - Altar
Boris - Pink
The Bellrays - Have A Little Faith
The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers

Also rans would be the Neil Young and the Phoenix and the Melvins.

Top of the I-wish-I-hadn't-bought-that-list would be:

The Drones - Gala Mill
(there's quite a few others in that category too)

Oh yeah ... the only Irish record I can think of that I got from this year is the Cap Pas Cap one and it's really good. Are all the others as good as this one?

Yeah I got that one they released at the start of the year, boring crap, can't see what the fuss is about.

I forgot about the Raconteurs record, I really liked that one too.

Got a few for christmas that I really like - Skream and The Rapture. Still got to listen to The Obliterati yet. And Jarvis' new one.

I caught up on a few irish releases the other day but what with christmas an all I haven't had the chance to listen to them. I hope they alter my top of '06 list.
