when did this become a thing?

I remember back when The Bends came out Radiohead had this thing on their website that you could download and it let you play samples of the songs, as well as other (not terribly good) stuff.

Twice this week I've heard of bands releasing Apps to accompany new releases.

da fuck

One: Animal Collective - Animal Collective Launch App Featuring New Song "Lying in the Grass"

srsly, if @washingcattle were here I'd nearly agree with him

Two: Massive Attack - Massive Attack Launch App Containing New Music

Haven't downloaded either, though the Massive Attack songs sound good.

sake

maybe it could be a good thing if the apps were, at least a little bit, relevant to the act.

For example, the Pete Doherty app could tell you where to score heroin, based on your location.
or remind you of your court dates for being sick on yourself in public or whatever

What a load of bollocks.

Here we are in 2016 already with the one thing musicians have dreamed of since music started being recorded..ie..unlimited practically free distribution channels and now they want us to put an app on our already jam packed androids?

Just give us the fucking tunes and fuck off

GIVE IT A REST LADS
