:X3: It just needs a bit of airbrushing to make it 2024 compliant.

12 y.o. zine editors Nic Bullen and Miles Ratledge in 1980. Both later founded Napalm Death.

Interview with Rat with more early photos and piece by comedian / music buff Stewart Lee who knew some of them at school and went to an early N.D. gig.

Anyone have a fave EYE YAMATSUKA or BOREDOMS record?
BOREDOMS are a huge gateway band but they have so much stuff out. The 1993 US tour they did with BRUTAL TRUTH and PAIN TEENS (?) was first time I heard of them.
I suppose HANATARASH is thing I'm most familiar with but I know Soul Discharge, Chocolate Synthesizer, Pop Tatari etc. without being much of a fan.

They’re a band that have so much stuff that I’ve actually been paralysed by indecision in terms of tackling them. I know those Hantarash videos well and would have some of their tracks on compilations but never got an album by them.

What would be the best place to start with the Boredoms?

Vision Creation Newsun is the one for me- it's fairly far removed from the noisy 80s Boredom, much more influenced by Can/kosmische musik.

I always think of them like a hyperactive child that needs to be use all its energy before bed. In the early days they changed tempos, styles and directions so many times in a track that it was exhausting. In latter years they just stretched each song out for ages to achieve the same result.

Unfortunately most of their stuff is unavailable on Spotify or other streaming services, so Youtube it is. Best place to start in my opinion is Super Roots 7, an EP from 1998. 20 minutes of bliss. I honestly don't think music gets any better than this.

I think I'll create a new thread today for them. I actually have a fair bit of work to get through, but I'd much rather listen to and write about the world's greatest band!
