A lot of the stuff on iTunes goes straight into the library when you download it, as far as I know anyway. I want to back up everything on the computer onto an external hard-drive. For me this means transfering the folders and files I want onto the new drive. But how do you transfer things like podcasts which are stored in the iTunes and don't have a file you can find?

Or if there's a better way to back-up than this I'm all ears.

There should be a folder in your iTunes Music folder called 'Podcasts' - the mp3s should be in there: mind you, that's on a mac, not sure if you're on a PC and it's any different - maybe do a search for a folder called that?

I'm on a Mac. I thought they didn't store podcasts like that. Is the way I'm planning to back the info up the best way to do it?

Right click or ctrl click on your podcast in iTunes and select "Show in Finder" from the drop down menu.

There they are.
