a lot of bands are arseholes, but some are very sound.

What's wrong with a bit of arrogance? If I was in a band I'd be arrogant as fuck. You have to believe your band is better than all the rest out there and that you are offering something newer and fresher than the rest of the half-assed naval gazing, electro beeping, pseudo-Zepplin shite out there.

What's the point in playing if you don't think you and your band are deadly?

Bands can get away with being arrogant if they've the talent to back it up.
Republic of loose just come across as ugly.
I read an interview with them in Mongrel about when they played the biker festival with two strippers onstage. They saw the strippers' manager bullying them into doing lesbian acts on stage. Did they kick the shit out of the manager like the hard drinkin' funkers with attitude they are? No, one just went on about how he was turned on even more 'cause he knew "they didn't want to do it"
Loved-up spontaneous lesbian antics are a thing of beauty, ROL are things that should not be.
